OSHA Safe + Sound is a year-round campaign to encourage every workplace to implement a safety and health program. There was also a Safe + Sound Week that ran from August 9 to 15, 2021. This year’s week-event is over, but the year-round effort continues. Successful safety and health programs don’t take time off, and businesses that proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness can improve sustainability and strengthen the bottom line.

Last year, more than 3,400 businesses participated in Safe + Sound Week 2020. Totals for this year’s event aren’t available yet, but it’s never too late to develop or improve your own safety and health program. Today, OSHA provides on-line resources such as 10 Ways to Get Your Program Started and Using Your OSHA 300 Log to Improve Safety and Health. In addition to written materials, there are webinar recordings, graphics, and toolkits you can use.

Whether you’re just getting started or looking for ways to improve, a safety and health program can help your business to improve efficiency and reduce costs, including potentially significant reductions in workers’ compensation premiums. You’ll also have the satisfaction that comes with doing the right thing.
